"The best part of creating books is meeting my audience!"

I love to visit schools. It's my favorite part of being a creator. I get to meet kids who write their own stories, draw their own adventures, and ask the best questions. And in return, I get to be silly, informative, and entertaining to the perfect audience. Let me share my love of this work by booking your visit today.

Author Visit

*Please note: I do make custom arrangements for schools with budget limitations - I'm always happy to work with the school to make a visit possible, so please let me know how I can help.

My author visit is a 45-minute Powerpoint presentation which includes: 1) a book read-aloud, 2) visual presentation on how the book was made and 3) discussion of the book's themes. My newly released picture book, FLOAT, includes themes about emotional regulation, acts of kindness, the importance of making mistakes, and the ability to pivot with unexpected things happen. This presentation also includes a chance to meet my 5-foot shark, Squiggles, which the kids love.

Creative Workshops

Creative workshops are an opportunity to share art and writing skills to smaller groups in the classroom. They can be presented during or after school as either 45-minute or 90-minute sessions. Group drawing and creative writing sessions typically target ages 7-11 (or grades 2-5) I am open to exploring specific themes related to curriculum being taught, but I often find it helpful to students to focus on the principals of storytelling and character design related to the books I am presenting. Please reach out if you have specific themes you would like to discuss.

Art Career Visit

Art Career talks are for young students with a keen interest in learning more about entertainment and creative fields. With a long career in film, television, toys, animation, video games, design and publishing, I offer these talks to share with kids the real possibilities of working in these industries and what skills will be needed when they get there. Art Career talks are aimed at students ages 9-14 (or grades 5-8)

Testimonials

“I highly recommend Larry Daley as a visiting author! He was professional, easy to work with, and responsive throughout the entire process. His presentation was engaging, interactive, and truly inspired our students. By sharing both his writing and illustrating process, he helped students see that they, too, can become authors and illustrators. We look forward to his next book and hope to welcome him back to PES in the future!”

“Larry had the perfect blend of energy and enthusiasm that kept our students genuinely engaged from start to finish.  His well paced presentation weaved together humor, education and encouragement for a fun 45mins that flew bye. I’m writing this to emphasize how impressed all the teachers were with his presentation and we can't wait to have you back.”

Larry Daley came to visit Vivian E Hussey School in May of 2026.  Larry was a lively, funny, and engaging presenter! He came prepared with a presentation catered to the various grade levels, as well great stuffed animals that the students loved to see.  We learned a lot about his book, including his writing process, his artistic vision, and how the book was made. All our students, Pre-kindergarten through 3rd grade, had a wonderful time!

Larry Daley’s visit to our school was both engaging and inspiring! All of our 3rd-5th grade children loved his “indoor shoes” (shark slippers), as well as his “ocean friends!” It is evident that Larry puts a lot of thought and care into his presentations, including valuable information on his process as a writer and illustrator. Larry has a natural ability to talk with children of various ages, which was evident as he shared his story Float! Our students were asking if Mr. Daley has plans for a second book, evidence that Mr. Daley’s visit left a memorable impression. A couple students were so inspired that later in the day they brought their own mini books to share with Mr. Daley! Larry Daley is a fantastic presenter who weaves a sense of humor throughout his presentations, engaging his audience, and planting seeds of creativity in their imaginations. Our students and staff loved every minute!

“Please tell Larry that he inspired my granddaughter Quinn Willett to start writing a book after he visited her school in Berwick ME!  She is in 2nd grade and has several pages already written!  I'm so happy he visited and left such an impression on her!!!”
